While the kids were getting ready to get on the bus this morning Cassie noticed things moving around in Wyatt Pig’s cage. Wyatt insisted that our hamster had gotten out of it’s cage and in with her, but no, Wyatt Pig had babies. We suspected when Colby brought her home from the pet store that she was pregnant, and so I’d been preparing for babies just in case, which is a good thing lol, because she has 4 cute, not so little, babies!!!

The best part is that guinea pigs do not eat or reject their young so I can start holding them tonight!!! It is a good thing because today is cage cleaning day. The worst part is now I have to have a seperate cage for the males in the next 3 weeks lol.

Edited to add… They now have names!
The white one with the black eyes is Pumpkin, thanks to Lucas.
The black, white, and brown one with the least amount of white is Annabell, thanks to Cassie.
The black white, and brown one with the most white is Blackie, thanks to Wyatt.
The black and brown one is Suzie, thanks to Shelby.

I asked the kids what happened if Annabelle and Suzie are boys and their exact words were “So! Wyatt Pig is a girl named Wyatt, who cares!”

so here is a rather personal question (for the pig) is it easy to tell the males and females apart? we have had several kitten catastrophes because it can be so hard to tell when they are little!

Guinea pigs are supposed to be similar to rabbits, but I am not comfortable checking myself so I’ll ask my step-mom to do it lol.

Many years ago we were given 2 “female” kittens and when my MIL came over she informed me they weren’t girls so I feel your pain. We were very fortunate that they were the same sex!!!

I think my best friend wants one of them. The others we’ll probably keep.
