Friday night Lucas, Cassie, and Wyatt spent the night with Eddie & the kids. I think it’s the first night Lucas had ever stayed anywhere, other than when Logan was in the hospital and he didn’t have a choice, so I was a little worried about him, but they all had a good time. And Shelby LOVED being without them for a night! While they were gone we got all the goodie bags ready to take to the school next week for Fire Prevention Week…

Saturday Colby had to work, so Logan, Shelby and I baked goodies to take the EMS picnic. She made her first peach cobbler (pretty much all by herself)…

She was quite proud of it! We also a double batch of cheesy potato casserole (the kids’ favorite), and had planned an apple crisp, but ran out of butter so I told her we’d make it this coming weekend. Eddie dropped the kids off Saturday afternoon and when Colby got home from work we headed off to the picnic…. Great friends. Good food. Bunches of fun!

Sunday morning we decided to go mushroom hunting and had such a good time! The kids usually don’t like it very well, but this year there seems to be mushrooms everywhere and they were loving it! We came home with WAY more mushrooms than I wanted to clean, so we gave away over half of what we picked, and I still ended up with 10 gallon bags in the freezer… yum!

Fortunately, we only got a few seed ticks and chiggers to deal with, that’s always the worst part! I thought we’d go out again this weekend, but Colby has to work Saturday because one of the other guys needs off. I may try and take the kids out myself, or maybe Sunday we can go out after he gets the kitchen and bathroom faucets fixed, we’ll just have to see. Since mushrooms are only out a few weeks of the year we have to get them when we can, even if I don’t really want to clean them lol.
