Kotex launched U, a new line of tampons, pads and liners, which feature a slim, thinner design, making them easier and more comfortable to use. And with bright, bold packaging and colors, girls don’t need to send their Mom to Walmart for them or feel embarrassed the next time the conversation comes up with their friends.

I know how awkward it can be to talk to my daughter about getting her period, but it’s necessary to talk openly about women’s health issues and make girls feel comfortable in their own skin.

I remember being a teen and telling my mom I needed pads and being so embarrassed when my step-dad went to Walmart with us to get them. Luckily, for my kids, I developed a “it’s no big deal” attitude and neither my boys or girls give it a second thought when I put pads into the cart or on the counter when we checkout. Heck, Colby will even go to get them for us!

However, I was a little shocked to see the neon colors at first, and wondered why anyone would want to make it so obvious that they had their period, then I remembered the very words I told Shelby… Having a period is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about, it’s just a part of life!

I wrote this post while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Kotex. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
