The girls’ room is so close to being done! Colby helped me finish the trim and put up the new light fixture…

I gave up on finding the curtains I wanted to match the room so I dyed some. I suck at getting a solid color, so there are light and dark places on them, but the girls approve…

And part of the Your Zone furniture and decor has arrived at Cuba Walmart so we can go pick it up!!! Shelby also made her “before” video tonight, which turned out GREAT and she can’t wait to do the “after”.

I’m so exhausted from this I was about to have to take up the offers I’ve been getting for the “best eye cream for wrinkles” lol. I’ll be glad when it’s completely finished!!!

How would you like to win a $500 gift card to purchase Your Zone items to makeover your own child’s room? Come back next week to see how you can!

    Looks awesome :)

  2. I have a real problem with curtains, too. Here’s a solution that has worked for me: (Note: much easier than it sounds.)
    1. Purchase a second set of sheets.
    2. Using the flat sheet, hem the bottom.
    3. At the top of the sheet, fold at the top “edging”, and sew.
    4. Since the sheet already has a nice edge along the sides, you don’t need to do anything with that.
    5. Run the curtain rod thru the top and hang!

Another suggestion for a pretty picture display board: (Note: this is not as complicated as it sounds.)
    1. Using the fitted sheet, snip off all the elastic that makes it gather at the corners.
    2. Get a corkboard or other cushioned board.
    3. Cut sheet to fit the corkboard with room along the edges.
    4. Lay sheet flat, right side down (so it shows when you hang it. And place the board right side down on top of it.
    5. Fold excess material to the back and secure with a glue gun.
    6. Using ribbon (1/2 inch is good) make a diamonds or squares by stretching the ribbon from side to side along the front and glue to the back.
    7. Flip it over so it’s right side up.
    8. Glue buttons where the ribbons overlap.

Curtain tie-backs (Again, much easier than it sounds)
    1. Using the fitted sheet, cut 2 strips for the tie-backs.
    2. Place right sides together. And sew along one short side and the long side.
    3. Pull it thru so the right side is out.
    4. Close the open side.
    5. Tie pretty bows and secure with glue gun to each short side.
    6. Use the bow as the tie back “loop”
    7. Repeat with other strip.

    Hope this helps. Heather

I took the closet doors off so I needed curtains to run ceiling to floor and sheets is what I was looking for to make the curtains out of. My big problem was I couldn’t find anywhere that had just the top sheet and I didn’t want to buy a set, since I’d have to buy 3 to have the closet & window being identical. Well, I finally I found top sheets, but they only had white and the walls are cream so I didn’t think they’d look right. I went ahead and bought them and dyed them with simple RIT dye and the girls love them.

The sheets I used over the window and the closet were all dyed together, but the camera makes them look completely different shades. They also match the wall much better than the pictures show.

I love the idea for a picture display board. One of Shelby’s best friends used to have one of those, but I never looked at it close enough to try and make her one.

Oh, and if anyone has any ideas to display her award metals and ribbons, I’d love to hear them. I want to put them inside picture frames, but she keeps making a face like she thinks I’m stupid so I need to come up with something else lol.
