Smooshies

About Smooshies:

What is a Smooshie?
Smooshies are a fun and easy way to release kids’ creativity! Kids can create anything they can imagine – a friend, a monster, a dog, a robot or an alien from another planet.

Simply choose a body, arms, legs, facial features, or even antennae or wings and attach them wherever you like. Easy Velcro tabs allow kids to create and recreate unique characters, mixing and matching all the body parts, in an infinite number of ways. When they’re done, they just pull the pieces off and start all over again!

Quality, Fun and Affordable!
Smooshies are made with premium fabrics for ultimate softness and durability, and to provide the best possible sensory experience. The touchable textures and bright colors are great for both boys and girls. The complete product line features Smooshies Kits, Bodies and Parts in a variety of shapes, colors and styles. Smooshies kits are only $9.99 at retail and a set of additional parts is just $1.99. Smooshies are available available in stores at JoAnn and select Michaels locations nationwide.

Go ahead, SMOOSH it up!

My Thoughts:

One2One Network sent me a cute little Smooshie for the boys to review. I almost didn’t accept it because we really don’t need any more stuffed animals in the house, but Lucas spotted the pictures when I was reading the email and begged me to say yes. Smooshies are actually kind of neat, they aren’t your typical stuffed friend, they have Velcro pieces so your child can design and redesign their stuffie over and over again. Lucas and Logan have been playing with it for a couple weeks now and they actually really do like it and play with it every day.

What’s really kind of funny is they each have their way they like it to be made (arms in a certain place, hair vs. horns, how many legs, etc) and when they see the other has remade the Smooshie, they rush over and redo it their own way. Lucas says it looks just like him. What do you think?

As for me, I’m still on the fence about this toy, mostly because the Velcro isn’t the super duper grippy stuff, which is good and bad…

  • Good – Logan can easily remove the body parts and remake the Smooshie by himself.
  • Bad – The body parts tend to fall off while the boys are playing with it because it’s not sticky enough.
  • Good – The Smooshie‘s hair doesn’t get stuck in it.
  • Bad – When the dog grabs an arm or leg or whatever they pull right off and she can run and hide before we get it away from her. And there is something about the Smooshie making it so just won’t leave alone. I have even caught her on the kitchen table trying to get it, which is TOTALLY not like her!

The boys really do like this toy, so I’m glad I took the review, but I’m just not loving it myself. I don’t hate it, and it is an adorable toy, and the idea behind it is super cute. It’s just not… I don’t know lol. Maybe it’s one that will grow on me.

It does seem like a really great toy but after reading your cons… I don’t think I would buy one. Maybe the Smooshie people will fix the flaws and I’ll buy one then. *shrug* They are very cute.
