Listerine Oral Care Challenge

Halloween’s around to corner and to help prepare for the onslaught of candy, Listerine and Reach put together the Oral Care Challenge that the kids and I took part in. We received an assortment of adult and children’s products to help build a healthy regimen of brushing, flossing and rinsing every day, twice a day and a calendar and stickers to help track of our progress.

Has It Been 2 Weeks Already?

I’ve posted before that my children aren’t good at brushing their teeth. I’m constantly asking “did you brush your teeth yet?” and get grumbles in reply. It’s not like they’re gross kids or anything, and often I hear, “I just brushed them this morning!” to which I reply “I showered a month ago, does that mean I never have to do it again?” Yes, I’m exaggerating to them, but they get the point and go brush their teeth lol.

Now, I’m not going to lie and say they accomplished the 2 week challenge, but they did pretty well. There was still days when not all of them brushed their teeth before bed, and one morning they were running late and didn’t brush before school. I’m happy they did as well as they did and am sure that is in part to keeping track of it on the cute little calendar we received.

Out of all the products we received, the kids’ favorite was the Agent Cool Blue, which tints their teeth blue so they can make sure they brushed everywhere. I liked it because the top of the bottle measures out how much they need, great feature for kids! The Reach Wonder Grip toothbrushes were a hit as well, though I’m sure it wasn’t because of the signature REACH® angled neck. I think they just thought the spiral swirl at the neck of the toothbrush was neat. Not that I’m complaining, whatever motivates them to brush their teeth is great in my book!

As for me, my favorite was the Total Care Cinnamint mouthwash. I’ve used the Listerine Cool Blue mouthwash for as long as I can remember, but I’ll be switching to the Cinnamint from now on! Even though it’s from the same brand, the Cinnamint somehow made my mouth feel fresher.

About the October Oral Care Challenge

Halloween comes with class parties, watching scary movies at a friend’s house, and candy, candy, candy! As Moms, although we may try our best to teach our kids the proper brush and floss routine, the U.S Department of Health and Human Services states that 50 percent of kids between the ages of 5 and 9 get a cavity or filling.

To help with the candy frenzy, Listerine and Reach created the “October Oral Care Challenge” for kids 6 and older. To complete the challenge, parents and children have to brush, floss and rinse every day, twice a day for two weeks—a key step in building a strong foundation of good oral care habits.

What a great idea to have a challenge, I mean they do it for weight loss and goodness knows teeth are a part of staying healthy too! I’ve actually thought about getting that agent blue for myself too :D
