Kitchen remodeling.
Colby is notorious about starting a project and taking forever to finish, like my chicken coop that took 10 months to complete. But worse than that is my kitchen, the first remodeling project we ever started. Actually I started it and didn’t give him much of a choice in the matter lol. When we moved in the cabinets were crappy and falling apart so I tore most of them out, and the linoleum had a BIG tear so I tore it all out. Well it’s been about 7 years and my kitchen still isn’t finished.
We’ve actually started on it a few times. The new countertop has been stored in the barn for over 5 years, and two years ago we painted half of the walls & ceiling. I decided I couldn’t live with the color, so even it never got finished. Well, now we’ve started on it again. And actually Colby has come a long way with it this time (I’m just a “helper” lol)!
The upper cabinets are all installed and look great! He put new paneling on the walls behind the sink and stove, and he put new cabinets and countertop on both sides of my stove. He moved the refrigerator and tonight he’s going to finish the cabinets and countertop where the sink is and install my new dishwasher.
Then all that will be left are a couple more pieces of paneling, a few light fixtures, a little bit of painting, and trim pieces and it will be completely done!!! Oh, and the floors, but I can’t decide what is going there lol. I’ve looked at dozens of pictures and websites, and watched multiple home improvement shows, and seen everything from copper kitchen sinks to lime green walls, and I still can’t decide on the finishing touches. Maybe red walls with white trim, or just boring white on white, I don’t know yet.
Anyway, I’m loving what is already done, and what we’ve decided on is going to look fantastic when it’s finished! And I’m so happy right now, that I don’t even care if the painting and flooring doesn’t get done or he doesn’t do the dining room to match right now! I’m just ecstatic to have a fully functional kitchen again.
