I’ve been working on a blog called Family Rant. I bought the hosting and .com a couple months ago, but it’s taken me this long to get it functional. The idea behind it is that anyone can register, using any name they wish, and blog about their family or friends. The things they wouldn’t want the person they’re talking about to read on their own blog.

Scenario A – June’s mother-in-law has been visiting for the last week and really getting on her nerves.  She points out how much of a mess June’s girls’ room is, how much weight June has gained, and how all the houseplants have died. June is miserable, but she can’t talk about it on her own blog because her husband’s Aunt Sally reads it and would tell her mother-in-law about it. June registers at Family Rant with the name Suzie Q and can talk about her monster-in-law all she wants, with no judgment and no fears of it getting back to the evil witch! People can then comment with their words of support and understanding so June doesn’t have to feel alone.

Scenario B - Sally’s husband decided to cut a tree in their yard. He went out, bought a chainsaw and started cutting. He had no idea what he was doing and the tree fell on their electric line and now the whole neighborhood will be without electricity for 24 – 48 hours. Sally is beyond upset with him, and has even taken pictures to show what a moron her husband is, but she can’t post them on her blog because his co-workers read it and he would be so mad if they knew what he’d done.  Sally registers at Family Rant with the name Agatha and shares what an idiot her husband was. Since she didn’t use her own name and the pictures don’t show their house clearly there is no way anyone will know who she is.

So obviously I just sat here and made those two scenarios up, but now you get the point and my reasoning behind creating Family Rant. And no, I won’t be posting there, the rule in our house is anything you say you better be prepared to stand behind, so if I want to talk about someone I’ll just do it right here :)
