National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Basic Exam:

The NREMT-B is a certification exam written by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and administered by Pearson VUE that is designed to determine whether or not a particular individual has the knowledge necessary to be an effective Emergency Medical Technician. This exam allows an individual to demonstrate the minimum basic knowledge required in order to become a certified EMT. The exam consists of a computerized multiple-choice exam that examines the candidate’s knowledge of life-saving techniques and procedure and a practical exam that allows an individual to actually demonstrate their ability to carry out these techniques. The multiple-choice and practical exams cover information related to CPR, patient assessment, first aid, oxygen administration, airway and ventilation management, bleeding control, shock management, and immobilization skills.

Colby is taking his written exam to become an EMT today, actually the test starts in about 10 minutes, and I’m so nervous for him. We should find out tonight if he passed or not. Please, please pray, send good vibes, cross your fingers, or whatever it is that you do, for him. He knows all the information and skills he needs to, but when it comes to testing he either reads the questions too fast or overthinks the answers and second guesses himself.

Update… He took the test and is on his way home. He doesn’t think he did very well, but he’s in a really good mood, so we’ll see. Now we wait some more…

Update again… He didn’t pass. He plans on trying again the week before Valentine’s Day. :(
