Having to go and show that they know what they're doing would make sense!

I wasn't sure how they worked because I get things in the mail inviting me to sign up for online courses all the time and they always seem so sketchy. "Get your teaching degree in less than a year" type stuff. Usually I just give them to the kids to play with, but I guess next time I'll actually sit down and read how it works.

Oh, and I so hear you on being a homemaker! I love being home with my kids and taking care of everything here. After my kids are all in school I'll probably go back part time, just so I don't make myself crazy lol, but I've still got years to decide that :D

Some of these online degree programs let you do the book learning online, but the clinical or hands on part may require you to go to a testing site and be tested out. In Indiana an LPN can become an RN this way, the bookwork online then go do the clinical parts in a classroom setting where you practice the skills for a few days, then have to do physical testing and be watched one on one by the instructor to see if you can do the required skills correctly to be tested out as passed. Then you will still have to take the State Board testing and pass there too. I don't live in Indiana, but I know about this because they have sent me material in the past when I worked as an LPN. I quite nursing in 2006 after my mom died and my genetic nerve condition took a turn for the worse. I love being a homemaker now, and if I never have to return to the work field outside of the home I will be a very happy person.
