Today was the celebration for Cassie’s poster winning the district contest. Her’s was picked the best out of all the 2nd graders in our county. They gathered all the 2nd graders into Mrs. Mahurin’s classroom and when Smokey the Bear walked in they were all shocked and whispering “Smokey the Bear is back!” Then the woman that was with Smokey announced that someone’s poster from their school had been picked the “Grand Prize Winner” and when they held the poster up Cassie’s face started turning red. Her teacher sent a note home with her last night to make sure I knew about it, and the little bugger opened it on the bus and read it, so she spoiled the surprise, but she was still really happy…

She got another Smokey the Bear toy (that talks) and a backpack with Smokey the Bear embroidered on it.
