Did you know there is a company who “develops tools with women in mind”? Well, there is…
Latitude tools are tools for women who want do a project easily and safely. It’s easy to say “We make tools for women” if all you do is resize the grip, lighten the weight and color coordinate the handles. We worked with women in focus groups to see how and why they use the tools they use. What did they like about the tools they were using currently and how could we improve or design something better? The result is Latitude, a tool line with the right fit, feel and function.
Colby worked in construction for a lot of years so he has about any tool I could possibly ask for, but every time I buy something to keep in the house it disappears. I’ve threatened for years to start painting my hammers pink so no one else would use them!!! Well then I found out about Latitude tools and now I’m hooked! They may not be pink, but they look and feel feminine, and that’s enough to keep Colby from wanting to use them lol.
A favorite is their 12″ Torpedo Level with Keyhole Locators. While finishing up the girls’ room I had several pictures, a calendar, and 2 dry erase boards to hang, and I started off using Colby’s 6′ level. I couldn’t hold it and mark the holes where I needed things to hang, and having the kids hold it while I made marks on the wall was a nightmare. Then, I remembered my Torpedo Level and it made things so much easier! It’s only 12″ long and has sliding keyhole locators so I didn’t need any help hanging pictures. I just pulled out the slide bars, leveled the level up, and marked my holes. It took all of 3 minutes to hang 8 items!
They also have a tape measure that holds a pencil and an 8-in-1 screwdriver that are pretty fantastic. And like I said, it all looks feminine so my boys leave it alone. You can’t beat that!

It it is great this company makes tools for women.
I find that some of the tools my DH has are just
too heavy, like his hammer.Kudos to this company
for thinking of us women
I like that your husband won’t touch your Latitude tools. lol I’m glad someone has put so much thought into tools for women. It would be nice if they did come in more feminine colors though. I’d like teal or purple. ^_^
Great article, thank you very much!
